Expert review of the Epson Expression XP-625 printer
The multifunction Epson Expression XP-625 is a highly capable printer, boasting features such as scanning, an integrated touch screen, wifi and a memory card reader. Running costs are incredibly low due to the availability of compatible (third-party replacement) cartridges - see above. High-capacity Epson-original cartridges are not available, which means costs remain higher if you'd rather use Epson products. Maximum print resolution is 5760 x 1440 dpi, while mono print speed is 13ppm and colour print speed is 10ppm.
Design & Features
The Epson Expression XP-625 is a relatively stylish printer, despite incorporating scanning bay, which might be an important consideration when it's going to sit on your desk for the next few years. A touch-screen display adds an element of interest and, more importantly, replaces fiddly setup menus of old with more logical ones. The screen usefully displays photos transferred directly to the printer. As for paper handling, the Epson Expression XP-625 features a 100-sheet paper tray. This A4 printer comes as standard with a scanner, an integrated touch screen, wifi, a memory card reader, PC-less functionality, a copier and a PictBridge connection.
Printer sharing is increasingly important and the Epson Expression XP-625 features wifi so it can be shared across computers, even if a wired network connection is not readily available. The printer has an abundance of features, some more useful than others, but great to have nevertheless.
We Don't Like
Running costs aren't as low as they could be as no high-capacity cartridges are available.
